but most years the Cattaraugus Creek s the first stream
to get a run of fish
Pennsylvania Steelhead fishing peaks in November and
December but gets runs as early as September. They

Report from the Garden River camp Ontario Canada
What a blast we have been having up here.
Yesterday Chris Kazulen caught Chinook, Pinks, Coho's,
Pinooks, Steelhead, a Brookie and an Atlantic.. !!
All from the same river. SEVEN fish species, I
would consider this a great lakes slam on the fly. Many
of the Kings are running over forty inches this fall but
the Pinks are a bit smaller than usual. The numbers of
fish is amazing.

Steelhead Alley Fishing Report
It was 93* today so its hard to start thinking steelhead,
but it will not be long before we have silver in our
streams. A few of our guides were out walking the rivers
last week. You can really learn the streams when
they come down to their low summer pools. They
reported lots of mosquitoes and a few smallmouth. We are
booking fall trips in Ohio and Pa now. Our guide
Travis McAllister has a real knack for catching staging
fish at the Lake Erie tributary mouths, on streamers.
Most of the regulars know about Travis and the impressive numbers
he catches while most guys are struggling to catch one. He starts
booking trips beginning Oct 1st each fall. All of
our guides will be busy by mid October. That is
when we have fair numbers in most of the streams along the
Alley. Remember each rain will pull up a
fresh run of fish. Our team of six guides have taught
hundreds of first time fly fishers. We provide all
of the equipment and our rates are the best around..!! Give Don a call at 330-565-5457 and
we will get you scheduled for a steelhead
adventure.
We have
openings on the following dates for
executive trips on
Private property located on Elk Creek Pennsylvania on
October 23rd, 29th, 30th, and 31st 2010.
This is prime time on Elk Creek with NO CROWDS ..!!
Don't worry, sleep in a little, the fishing is terrific
in late October and you will have some of the best holes
on the creek to yourself..!! The property is
limited to four anglers per day and a nice streamside
cabin is also available for rent. Give me a call for
more info 330-565-5457
Thank you
and Good Fishin..!! Don
PS
The walleye have been really on fire out of Conneaut and
Ashtabula. Jack at snug harbor says there committing
suicide out there and his fish cleaners have been busy.
I have saw several six man limits brought in that weighed over 180
lbs. Now that's some big eyes..!! I have had
a few real successful walleye fishing trips on my
brothers boat but mostly I have been running my boat for Perch.
I am happy to report that I have limited out every time
I went out Perching this summer BUT several days we did
have to work for them. Seems like every time a
front moves thru it messes things up.

North Eastern Ohio Fishing Report
Summer is flying by and before you know it the steelhead
will be back in our streams. The rumor is the Ohio State
record Steelhead has been beat. Heard it came off of
Vermillion and was over 21 lbs but no other official
info yet. I'll post more as the details come in. The
walleye fishing has been good out on Erie and my brother
Lance and several other captains I know report limits
most days now..!! I just got back from Florida and we
had a nice trip despite the windy rainy weather the
storm in the gulf kicked up. I was humbled by the
Tarpon and went 0 for 5 but Mark managed to get one to
pose for a photo. We saw literally thousands of tarpon
in the Boca Grande pass and surrounding beaches but they
were real tough customers. I saw less than 10 landed in
six days of fishing the area. Considering the number of
guides down there it was obvious nobody did much better
than we did. The first week I was down in Florida I
kept the boat in Sarasota and we only saw a few Tarpon
on the beaches there all week. It was the offshore
boat races on the fourth and the boating traffic was
very heavy. It was kind of cool to meet Jonathan from
the Deadliest Catch TV show as they had a boat entered
in the boat races. We fished both spin and fly and the
new 40 gallon live well I put in the boat worked real
good. We kept Crabs alive for two weeks straight.
When we were throwing flys at them we did it in style.
Chad from One by One custom rods sent a very cool custom
12 weight along with me. Not only was it beautiful it
cast like a dream but we failed to bend it on a Tarpon.
It will not be long before were heading up to Canada for
the Garden River trip. We
still have a few openings if anybody wants to join us.
6-01-10
Steelhead Alley fishing report
The
phone has been ringing and our fall schedule is stating
to fill up. We have lots of prime openings for
fall steelhead on the alley. We have been fishing a lot
this past month. Locally the smallmouth
fishing has been good on the inland streams, but the
lake run fish on the Erie tribs are all but gone. If you
want to try NE Ohio smallmouth fishing give me a call.
No crowds and awesome scenery await. The trout
fishing in Maryland is still red hot and Mark and Chris
have openings until mid June. The past couple of
weeks we have been hitting big numbers of bows and
browns both nymphing and on drys. There have been
olive caddis and brown drakes and a host of other
hatches last week. One afternoon myself and Chris went
bug hunting and the number and variety of nymphs we
found on the Casselman were impressive. We filled
a cooler with at least 30 different nymphs. We got some
great underwater shots of nymphs in their natural
habitat and I'll get up some pics soon. If your
into big Brook trout, we also have been hitting a
unmentionable in SW Pa for brookies. It's a small stream
but it flows cold and the fish thrive year round in it.
Last week I got a true trophy at 21 inches long and at
least a half dozen of these beauties over 16 inches were
caught that day stripping streamers.
5-05-10
Steelhead alley fishing report
Our
steelhead season has winded down a little quicker than
normal this year. There are still a few drop backs in
the Grand and Conneaut but not enough to make it worth
your time. We have saw quite a few smallmouth in
the lower rivers. Our team of guides have shifted
gears and Mark and Chris have already been
hitting the trout down in Maryland on the North Branch of the
Potomac , the Casselman and Savage rivers.
I have been busting ass getting things around the house
and getting the yard ready for summer. I will be
taking the drift boat down to Maryland next week and
will be joining them.
From what I'm hearing the fish are running big this year
and I can't wait to get down there. Mark still has openings for his Trout School
if anybody is interested give him a call at
724-317-8582.
We will be
trout fishing for the next month then myself and Mark
are heading down to Florida to chase tarpon. We
have lots of openings for this Falls Steelhead runs.
Our guide Travis will start chasing staging fish with
streamers in late September and the rest of the guys
will start taking steelhead trips about October 7th.
Give me a call at 339-565-5457 and we will hook you up
with some of the best steelhead fishing on the
planet..!!
I talked to
Ben our Native
American outfitter up at the
Garden River yesterday.
He told me they had very little snow last winter but it
was a very cold. Sounds like he spent a lot of time at
his cabins ice fishing last winter. Himself and little
Ben have been guiding some steelhead fishermen with
success this spring and they tell me the river is low
right now. The roads weathered the winter well and
he will be ready for our group this fall. The trip is
getting full but there are still spots in the Sept 14th
thru 19th and the Sept 24th thru 29th legs. If you have
been thinking about going, this is a on year in the Pink
Salmon cycle and you will have a blast. Five
nights in camp is just $1250 and all of your meals are
included. Miles and miles of private access and
more fish than you can imagine await our group.

Steelhead Fishing Report
Finally a
blow out and a little time to catch up on the
website..!! Its going to be at least three or four
days before any of the Ohio big five fish. Only time
will tell if more fish are on the way. It has been a very very busy spring
for us with well over 560 anglers joining us on the
"Alley". It was a great spring for us and I believe our
hard work paid off. (See pictures below) This
morning we arrived at a very muddy Grand River. It
has been raining non-stop all day long. We tried
it for a hour this morning but it was futile in the
brown muddy water. Last night when I left the same
section of stream it was low and clear and FULL of fish.
We pounded them all weekend long. Our team of
guides put well over 150 in the net and everybody was
plain worn out by Sunday evening. We caught a lot of
real quality fish. we had 11 guys from the NKFF Club and
12 more from the Louisville TU. Most of these guys have
been coming with us for years. They got it all
figured out and the work us hard netting fish.
Both clubs are a blast to fish with and this springs
trip produced some real honkers for the Kentucky Boys
AKA. Forigners LOL.. Better get them before there gone.
The bluebells are blooming.. Good Fishin..!! Don

Located in Sheffield Lake Ohio. They have a great
selection for the steelheader as well as lake fishermen.
There is a nice launch down the street that puts you about 6
miles from the sandbar. A lake Erie fishing hot spot in
recent years. Erie outfitters has shiners, bait and
licenses.
Gone Fishing Bait
and Tackle
Bill
Laughard owns Gone fishing Bait and tackle at 1027
Munroe Falls ave in Cuyahoga Falls Ohio. The word
is out on the steelhead runs the Cuyahoga has been
getting the past couple of years. Plus it has some great
bass and pike fishing. Bill knows the river well
and he knows where they are biting. 330-945-4590
Snug Harbor Bait
and Tackle
Jack owns
Snug Harbor Bait and tackle located at 1021 Broad Street
in Conneaut Ohio. The shop sits on the bluff looking
over the mouth of Conneaut creek and the Harbor. I'm in
his shop daily in the summer because in my opinion
Conneaut is the best fishing port on lake Erie. The
perch fishing is consistent all summer and fall and the
walleye fishery peaks in July and August. Snug Harbor
has the right bait, tackle, and advise to make your trip
a success. they also clean fish. Jack also maintains a
river report line call 440-593-3755

very good on their property. John is a great guy
